Crrrreeepy...

This great site Picnik let's you upload and adjust your photos for free. Con and I had a ton of fun. Here are some of the before and afters...

I'm the Indian. That's the costume I made.

He wanted to be a zombie. What can I say? *shrug*

Camera Tag

"Mom! I can't... I can't get up the stairs." I came down to find Jamie like this. So I grabbed my camera :)

He, of course, gets ups and runs away and the game begins.

This is where I find him :)

The Chair

I've had this chair forever. It was old when I got it and a hideous puke green color. I had always planned on reupholstering it but had no idea how to even begin. So it sat in my room for ages with a sheet or blanket thrown over it. It was old and ugly but it was the most comfortable chair I’ve ever sat in. Over the years it was eventually placed in my moms basement where it sat until one day it flooded and the chair got moldy. Ewww…. Outside it went. The plan was to take it apart and have the pieces hauled off in the trash. The plan partially worked. As you can see the outside was stripped off. I’m not sure why I love taking pictures of chair bones but I do. I think it’s beautiful, charming, and full of character. I hope that’s what people say about me when I’m old and moldy.

Look familiar? ---->

Flannel Shirt and Riding Boot Obsession

It happened when the weather started getting a bit colder, this strange obsession with flannel shirts and riding boots. I’m totally in love with them. After going years without even thinking about flannel shirts, I now catch myself thinking longingly about getting more. (I’ve picked up a couple this year and am desperate to expand my collection) I’ve gone so far as to ask my dad for his old ones. Unlike me, he never stopped wearing them. I want to make them into a dress… Not exactly sure how that will go but I plan on giving it a whirl. Riding boots, on the other hand, are new to me. I’ve never owned a pair and really, really want to. I started a riding boot fund and so far have 50 cents. It’s a work in progress.

These are the boots from Anthropologie I'm savin' my pennies for

Fall Awesomeness

All day yesterday I was working on my Halloween costume. I was an Indian. (I'll put a picture up when I find one I like) As part of my costume I made a headband and necklace. I LOVE the necklace!!! I'm ALL about copper, turquoise, and feathers!!!

Today was beautiful! I couldn’t help but take some fall appreciation pictures of my back yard.

Google

I don't even know why I just did this but I totally googled myself. Ha! I thought that this was by far the coolest.

Betcha didn't know that about me. I'm totally an actress... in my dreams maybe. Only, after finding this out the other stuff wasn't nearly as cool. There was a blog, a myspace, a twitter page, and a facebook that was soooo not me, UCLA faculty, owner of a musical productions company, and just a ton of other people living their life with my name.

Is it weird that you're not the only you? There are a bunch of other people out there, right now, with your name. I'm not gonna lie, it's got me a bit freaked out. I find it cool and creepy all at the same time.

Check this out: according to How Many of Me there are 18 people in the U.S. with my name. On Wink there are 91 listings of me. Well, not me but my name that I share, with other people...

NaNoWriMo

I was freaking out the other day about NaNoWriMo starting again and I swear the cosmos acknowledged this and I got 2 emails about it!!! Ahhh!!! And I still haven’t started… I’m a die-hard procrastinator. I encourage everyone to try. Click here if you wanna take the plunge. It’s actually a ton of fun. Now, I'm off to play with the boys...

{For Jenny}

No Need to ask "Where the Wild things are?" becuase they're at my house!
I made these hats yesterday. It was the funniest thing trying to make the pattern. I had a big piece of craft paper laid out on the floor and I traced my head. Ha! Like I did when I was a kid. I drew the hat around it and added for seam allowance. Then Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo, Jamie’s hat was made. So did you catch that? I wanted to make it big enough to fit my head and it fit Jamie. Back to the drawing board. I just made everything bigger and Poof, Con’s hat. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.

Huh...

I never thought that I’d have anything to post if I started a blog. I think my days are rather boring and monotonous. The fact that I’ve been able to post something everyday this week is awesome! I know its only Wednesday, don’t steal my thunder!

This stuff actually happened yesterday but it’s just too hard to get homework done, dinner ready, make things, and wrangle kids (That’s my official title: Kid Wrangler) and post something. So let’s just pretend I posted this yesterday. Mmmkay?

Con started yelling and pointing out the window but he was babbling so fast I had NO idea what he was saying. Turns out there was a hot air balloon outside. Pretty cool but there have been times when the whole sky is filled with them. He was still very excited about the whole thing. I wonder if I have a future aviator on my hands?

I made the best soup EVER! It had butternut squash, potatoes, onions, and apples in it. Mmmmm! I’ve been in a soup mode this whole year and I love warm hearty soups in the fall. My kids, however, aren’t fans of my concoctions. It makes me a little bit sad. I take a deep breath and know that it’s not that it’s not a good soup it’s just that it’s not filled with chocolate, gummy worms, or chicken nuggets. Plus, then there’s more for me! Bonus!!!

Overrun by Ladybugs

I don’t know if you know this but there is a huge ladybug party at my house today. Sorry if your ladybugs weren’t invited… I seriously don’t know what was going on today but I couldn’t look out my window without seeing hundreds of tiny little ladybugs.

When Con was little and at that phase where everything goes in the mouth, he used to catch ladybugs and eat them. True Story! They’re not very fast. You’d think they’d fly away. Well, you’d be wrong. For his first birthday I made him his own cake and painted it like a ladybug. I hope he won’t need counseling for that. I just thought it was funny.

Check out the side of my house! There were thousands flying all around. So in honor of ladybugs I found this cute site here.

Case of the Mondays

Can you have a case of the Mondays and not be working? Does it work that way?

So it's not really a case of the Mondays. I’ve been fighting with my allergies the past few weeks. They had the upper hand for a while and just when I thought the tide is turning, WHAM! I get tag teamed by a cold that has seriously kicked my butt. I got Con on the bus this morning took some medicine that knocked me out. Got up to meet my friend for lunch (normally I would have re-scheduled but this was the third re-schedule already), turned some cans in, came back home, and took another nap on the couch with Jamie.

I had high hopes for getting stuff done today. It’s almost NaNoWriMo time! This is the month to be outlining and getting the story in order. For those of you I haven’t blabbed to about this last year NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month aka: November. The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. “Crazy!” you say? “Can’t be done!” you exclaim. Well, in my case you’d be right. I tried and failed. So this year my goal is to NOT fail!!! And yet I’m already behind. Ugh!

So instead of working on outlining, I’m sitting at my computer writing about not writing (how sad) drinking peppermint flavored coffee (not the expensive stuff, just plain-ole-coffee with a peppermint in it- you know, it’s the little things in life) pumpkin seeds, and Oreo cookies.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

I think cemeteries are pretty cool and beautiful. I’ve never found them scary or creepy. I have my mother to thank for that. When she was pregnant with my sister we lived next door to one and we’d go for walks through it. So, for me they’ve always been rather calming and peaceful. Plus, why would a ghost hang around one anyway? There isn’t anyone there. It would be rather boring. I, however, find them fascinating. Seeing who’s buried where, how old was the person when they died, who’s got the coolest headstone. I went for a fall color appreciation drive today and ended up at the cemetery.

The coolest crypt ever

I walked over a ridge and surprised this deer. Look at that expression, deer- caught- in- headlight, or in this case, camera flash. It didn’t run away until I stepped on a twig.

I Love Fall!

To reiterate, I love fall! The boys and I had a grand ole time this weekend doing fall things. We carved us some pumpkins, roasted the seeds (Mmmmm), and then made caramel apples. All the while I was wearing insulated socks and three layers of clothes. That's fall in Michigan. Oh, it frosted last night so this morning when I moved the pumpkins they had a ring of frost (or as it looked to me, tiny icicles) around the places we cut. Nice...

Me, Connor, and my brother Owen carving pumpkins

Like how I used permanent marker to draw the outline? My thinking cap was not on.

Jamie was helping me arrange them outside since he couldn't help carve.

Then we tried our hand at caramel apples. And yes, we're totally cheating using caramel circles and it was soooo worth it!

Jameson turns 3

I honestly can’t believe that my youngest baby turned 3 today!!! He was born horse crazy. I’m still not sure exactly when or why it happened but he LOVES everything that has to do with horses. Spirit, Flicka, and Black Beauty are three of his favorite movies… and we watch them constantly. His favorite shoes to wear are red hand-me-down cowboy boots. I’m very thankful that we live in horse country. So today we went to visit my friend at her farm (Just a Folly Farm- in case you were wondering) and she let him ride on a few of the ponies bareback. He actually road on Echo which was a horse I used to ride when I took lessons there as a girl. (I’m not gonna lie, it made me feel really old.) He had a blast and cried when we had to leave because he wanted to ride more!!! He’s my little cowboy-in-training,

Hello

Well, I guess I should start off with a little info. I'm the mother of two wonderful boys. My youngest just turned 3 today! I'm also currently an unemployed advertising professional in Michigan... hence the blog. Kidding! Well, mostly kidding. That's not the only reason I took the plunge to start this blog. I'm also trying to break out of my shell and say hi to the world... "Hi world" I am almost 30 but still feel like I did when I was 14. Shy, insecure, easily overlooked and forgotten but I've been trying to change that. I've stopped asking myself "why?" and started asking myself "why not?" So why not start a blog? I couldn't think of one reason not to...
